The “Connected 2023”, a Web3 social hackathon organized by BNB Chain and CyberConnect, was successfully wrapped last week. Over the 4-week periods, from February 7 to March 9, over 2,000 applications joined the event, as all participating hackers received hands-on support from BNB Chain as well as CyberConnect and dev support by co-sponsors Notifi, Lit, Livepeer, and XMTP.
Fragmentation of Web2 Social Platform
In traditional Web 2.0 social platforms, users ususally need to register their accounts separately. Information and data between different platforms usually cannot be interoperable. For example, the identity of users in a novel reading platform is mostly authors and readers, and the user system in a trading platform is divided into buyers and sellers, and the resulting social graph is relatively homogeneous. Although they may follow the same users and even become mutual friends on another social platform for the same hobby, the monopoly of information across platforms prevents users from realizing more about each other. To fix this problem, some platforms add the choice for users to post the links to their profile on other platforms such as Youtube, Twitter, or Linkedin, but the data remains separate.
In addition, in current social platforms, users are monopolized by the platforms; centralized social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. divide users and take the content created by users for themselves, and some platforms even profit from it and violate users’ privacy. In Web 2.0, users are an integral part of the platform’s product.
CyberConnect: Solution to Web3 Social Graph
CyberConnect aims to solve the problem of Social Graph for Web 3.0. CyberConnect recognizes wallet addresses, and from the contents of the wallet, CyberConnect displays users’ NFTs on the home page, using NFTs as a medium to build a Web 3.0 social graph. This allows different addresses to follow, message and interact with each other. This clever design allows Ether accounts with the same NFTs and in the same community to find organizations and follow each other, and the social graph can be mapped in this way.
However, from the user’s point of view, CyberConnect directly spreads out the social graph data in front of the user, not as a service for the user, but simply as a pile of data that has been processed accordingly. Thus, CyberConnect is not built on a technical level directly for just individual users. Its social graph module and recommendation indexer provide a common data layer for the next generation of decentralized applications — GameFi, NFT, DAO — to provide a common data layer to insert meaningful and context-specific social features.
Link3: The Product Based on CyberConnect
Link3 is the latest Web3 social networking Dapp developed by the CyberConnect team, which is currently positioned in the Web 3 verifiable identity space. It combines on and off-chain data of users to ensure authenticity and trustworthiness. And it allows users to customize their personal pages with different modules such as official links, recommended content, personal and organizational information, on-chain proof (GAL and Poap), NFT photo albums, and other modules, allowing you to share personal or organizational information easily and quickly.
In addition, Link3 also provides the function of project party or celebrity authentication. Users can easily find a project team or celebrity who has opened a Link3 account to follow. For authenticated project parties or celebrities, they can also directly launch various activities on Link3 and set different tasks and rewards to increase the stickiness of community users.
Summary
CyberConnect dismantles the Berlin Wall between platforms, individuals and communities, and Link3, CyberConnect’s newest product, uses decentralized storage to create a decentralized and trusted Web 3 social product by aggregating information from users both on and off the chain. With this product, CyberConnect has created a Web 3 portal, and the modules of Link3 are all combinable and freely configurable, which gives great imagination to the future expansion of Link3 and access to other projects.
